About the AMAA
Since 1987, American Martial Arts Academy, Inc. has been providing martial arts instruction in northern Cape May County, N.J. The school is located in Seaville, Upper Township. The AMAA is a blended freestyle martial arts training facility. The foundation of the program combines elements of five main disciplines:
Japanese Shotokan Karate; Americanized Tae Kwon Do Karate; Kickboxing; Hapkido; and
Wrestling (grappling). The program is
family-friendly, nonviolent and noncompetitive. Each student is expected to meet specific standards of testing and accomplishment to move up the rank of belt colors. The program centers around the student’s individual accomplishment and skills.
We grapple, kick-box and learn controlled sparring, throws, punches and blocks – all the elements of a solid martial arts program. But safety is key in all areas of training, beginner to advanced.
Beyond the physical, much of the martial arts regimen is focused on philosophy and attitude. This, in our opinion, is where the real magic occurs in our students. The shy learn confidence. The arrogant discover humility. The strong master control. And weaknesses are overcome.
There’s no hocus-pocus involved. However, the student that approaches martial arts training earnestly and with dedication will
improve both physically and mentally in almost all areas of life. We’ve seen it time and time again in students of every age. The harder the student works at martial arts, the better he becomes as a whole.
A program for everyone
Our style blends art, sport and self defense for a well-rounded martial arts training program for men, women and children.
Transforming lives
The philosophy of the American Martial Arts Academy is to tailor the Martial Arts training program to maximize the benefit of each and every student without discrimination for age or physical ability. After 20 years as working teachers, we have seen first-hand how martial arts training can benefit everyone.
