Our Instructors & Staff Members

Through extensive testing and years of hands on experience, our staff has attained a high level of professionalism and a great reputation throughout the county since 1987. Here are a few of American Martial Arts Academy, Inc.'s instructors and other staff members, starting with Sensei McCray:

Sensei John McCray  (Yodan) Sensei McCray has been a resident of Cape May County since 1961. Along with a strong wrestling background, Sensei McCray has various black belts in Karate, Hapkido and Judo. The founder of the American Martial Arts Academy, Sensei McCray maintains a strong commitment to helping every student reach the apex of potential through martial arts training.

Maura Bennett  (Office Manager) Maura Bennett has years of experience working with people in the retail community. Maura's warm, friendly smile and positive attitude make her an ideal contact person for the American Martial Arts Academy. Maura also holds a black belt in kick-boxing.

Erin Sikora  (Instructor/Retail) Instructor Erin is a Level II instructor and is a vital member of the instructing staff, assisting Sensei McCray on the mat for many of the classes. Instructor Erin has a background in retail management. She also holds a black belt in Karate.

Sensei Lynne Bandy & Sensei Beth Emma (volunteers) Volunteer Staff members Sensei Lynne Bandy and Sensei Beth Emma have been training and teaching for well over a decade at the Academy. They originally became involved with the Academy to assist in their children's classes. They both have children who have earned black belts and have themselves gone on to earn Black Belts in Self Defense and 2nd degree Black Belts in Karate. Sensei's Lynne and Beth are an amazing backbone of support to Sensei McCray and the Academy as well as wonderful, caring and inspiring mentors to hundreds of students, past and present.
